Safe and Supported governance
How we manage Safe and Supported
Different groups take on different governance roles for Safe and Supported. Some perform high-level oversight, track progress and change direction if necessary. Others manage certain actions day-to-day. All will engage with external groups and keep stakeholders involved through ongoing consultation.
The governance groups in Safe and Supported bring together:
- Australian, state and territory governments and Ministers
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander leaders (Leadership Group)
- non-government organisations through the National Coalition on Child Safety and Wellbeing(Opens in a new tab/window).
First Nations peoples give input into decisions through the Leadership Group. SNAICC – National Voice for our Children supports the Leadership Group.
We approach shared decision-making in line with the National Agreement on Closing the Gap. The Safe and Supported Partnership Agreement guides this approach. The senior governance group agreed to the Partnership Agreement in March 2024.
