How Be Connected works
Be Connected launched in October 2017 and has been extended until 30 June 2028.
Be Connected supports people aged 50 years and over to confidently and safely use the internet and digital technology.
Be Connected features hundreds of free short online courses and learning resources on a range of topics including:
- using a digital device such as your smartphone and tablet
- how to identify and avoid scams
- how to use email
- Facebook and other social media apps
- safer internet banking and shopping
- setting up a myGov account and linking to other services
- creating and managing strong passwords.
Be Connected provides:
- information, tools and resources through the Be Connected online learning portal
- free personalised support and mentoring through the Be Connected Network.
Be Connected has replaced the Broadband for Seniors program.
Evaluation of Be Connected
The evaluation of Be Connected assessed the appropriateness, effectiveness and efficiency of the program as a national response to the digital inclusion needs of older Australians (undertaken 2017-2020).
