500 Workers Initiative

The Australian Government has committed $169.4 million over 4 years from 2022‑23 to 2025‑26 to generate 500 new jobs for community organisations, by providing funding for additional frontline and community sector workers to support victim-survivors of family, domestic and sexual violence (FDSV). This includes $4.4 million in departmental funds. This initiative has ongoing funding and all 500 new workers will be funded into the future.

Funding has been provided to state and territory governments (states) through an extension of the National Partnership on FDSV Responses 2021‑23 (FDSV National Partnership). All jurisdictions have executed a multilateral agreement and project plans submitted resulting in payments 1 and 2 being made.

  • This allows states to leverage existing funding arrangements with frontline organisations.
  • States have not been asked to contribute matched funding to this initiative.

All FDSV National Partnerships can be found on the Family, Domestic and Sexual Violence Responses 2021-27 | Federal Financial Rel.ations webpage.
