500 Workers Initiative

The Australian Government has committed to creating 500 new jobs to support victim-survivors of family, domestic and sexual violence.

About the initiative

Funding of $169.4 million has been committed over 4 years for community organisations to employ more frontline workers to support victim-survivors of family, domestic and sexual violence (FDSV). This includes $4.4 million in departmental funds. All 500 new workers will continue to be funded into the future.

Funding is provided to state and territory governments through the National Partnership on FDSV Responses 2021–23 (FDSV National Partnership). Visit the Federal Financial Relations website to find more information about the Family, Domestic and Sexual Violence Responses 2021–27(Opens in a new tab/window).

Track how the initiative is progressing via the 500 workers – monthly update.
