Research into family, domestic and sexual violence

Building evidence to support ending violence against women and children in Australia.

About Australia’s National Research Organisation for Women’s Safety

Australia’s National Research Organisation for Women’s Safety (ANROWS) is an independent, not-for-profit organisation established by all Australian governments under the National Plan to Reduce Violence against Women and their Children 2010-2022(Opens in a new tab/window).

Their primary role is to build the evidence base that supports ending violence against women and children in Australia.

Under the current National Plan to End Violence against Women and Children 2022-2032, ANROWS continues to lead in the production and dissemination of evidence to assist in the development of evidence-led policy and practice addressing violence against women and children.

They produce Australia's National Research Agenda which identifies what evidence is needed to end family, domestic and sexual violence and how that evidence should be produced.

About the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare

The Australian Institute of Health and Welfare (AIHW) has launched a Family, domestic and sexual violence website which brings together the latest information and data on family, domestic and sexual violence in Australia. Bringing together evidence from organisations such as ANROWS, the AIHW helps inform us on what that data means.

This helps us to understand family, domestic and sexual violence in Australia and to prioritise our policies, programs and funding accordingly.
