Increasing First Nations organisations delivering services
About the project
The Stronger ACCOs, Stronger Families Part 2 project concluded in 2024. Its aim was to strengthen partnerships between non-Indigenous organisations and ACCOs in the delivery of programs in the Families and Children Activity.
The project focused on the providers for 2 programs:
- Home Interaction Program for Parents and Youngsters (HIPPY)
- Communities for Children Facilitating Partners (CfC FP).
The project ran in 2 parts:
- Learn from existing non-Indigenous/ACCO partnerships at Leading Regions sites
- Apply those learnings to future non-Indigenous/ACCO partnerships.
This program built on the Stronger ACCOs, Stronger Families Part 1 program that delivered the SNAICC Stronger ACCOs Stronger Families Report(Opens in a new tab/window). The report identified the strengths, opportunities and barriers faced by ACCOs.
The program was managed by the Wunan Foundation(Opens in a new tab/window). The Wunan Foundation worked with Impact Partners and Social Ventures Australia to assist with delivery and evaluation.
Closing the Gap
This project contributed to our commitment to the National Agreement on Closing the Gap(Opens in a new tab/window) and the 2023 Commonwealth Closing the Gap Implementation Plan(Opens in a new tab/window). It helps us to address:
- Formal Partnerships and Shared Decision Making (Priority Reform 1)
- Building the Community-Controlled Sector (Priority Reform 2)
- Reducing the number of children in out-of-home care (Target 12).
