Problem Gambling Financial Counselling
Financial Counselling supports people affected by problem gambling, by helping to address their financial problems, manage debt and navigate out of financial crisis. Counsellors can provide direct case work or one-on-one intensive support, including the provision of information, advocacy and/or negotiation; referrals to other services; community education; and networking/liaison with relevant service providers.
Eligibility
These services are available to people who are not able to pay a bill or at imminent risk of not being able to pay a bill and for:
- those in receipt of a Commonwealth social security benefit, allowance or payment;
- newly arrived migrants/non-citizens (priority to be given to newly arrived refugees); and
- women experiencing family violence for the purpose of assisting these women to become financially independent.
