Robyn Shannon commenced as Deputy Secretary for the Department of Social Services on 15 September 2023 following 6 months acting in the position. Robyn leads the Disability and Carers Stream. 

Robyn moved to the department from the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations, where she was responsible for the management of employment services procurement, program and contract management functions throughout the onset of COVID-19 and the implementation of Workforce Australia. 

Robyn has worked in the Australian Public Service for over 20 years in a range of policy, program and corporate roles after joining the (then) Department of Social Security as a graduate. She has line and central agency experience in leading teams responsible for multistage policy reform and implementation processes across a range of social policy areas that include income support, early childhood education and care and school funding. 

Robyn has a combined Arts/Law degree from the Australian National University.
