Information for caseworkers
Applying for TILA
Young people you work with who are in out-of-home care may be eligible for the Transition to Independent Living Allowance (TILA).
Caseworkers develop or update a young person’s leaving care plan with them. You may also submit their TILA application and manage their TILA payment. Our TILA - Guide for Caseworkers steps you through the TILA application process. They may also be eligible for other supports and services.
The TILA Operational Guidelines give information on your role. They also outline how you can support a young person to apply for TILA. They include communication materials to promote TILA to your service users.
TILA application lodgement
You need to lodge TILA applications through the Services Australia PRODA Business Hub(Opens in a new tab/window). The process for lodging a TILA application may differ in each state and territory.
