6 August 2024 meeting of the Blueprint Expert Reference Group - communique
The Blueprint Expert Reference Group (BERG) held a meeting on Tuesday 6 August 2024 to finalise the draft Not-for-Profit Sector Development Blueprint (NFP Blueprint).
Alex Robson, Deputy Chair, Productivity Commission, presented findings to BERG and answered questions regarding the final report of the Productivity Commission’s Inquiry into philanthropy, Future Foundations for Giving. The Report was sent to the Australian Government on 10 May 2024 and tabled in Parliament on 18 July 2024. The report sets out the Commission’s findings and recommendations to provide firm foundations for philanthropy in Australia, so the benefits of giving can continue to be realised into the future.
Targeted consultations on the draft NFP Blueprint were held in June and July 2024. BERG members were interested to hear, in more detail, about smaller organisations’ thoughts on the Blueprint. Consultations revealed broad support for the pillars and actions included in the NFP Blueprint even though not all participants identified as part of the not-for-profit sector. Feedback from the consultations has been incorporated into the final draft of the NFP Blueprint.
The BERG and Expert Advisors have also been testing the final draft NFP Blueprint with subject matter experts, including the Engagement Allies and members of the Community Services Advisory Group. Details are being finalised to ensure the final recommendations are viable and provide a cohesive plan for government and not-for-profit sector reform in the short term and over the next ten years.
A further out-of-session meeting will be arranged to discuss delivery of the NFP Blueprint and next steps.
