Grants for the Crisis and Transitional Accommodation Program

Grant opportunity to build, remodel or purchase new crisis or transitional accommodation.

About the Crisis and Transitional Accommodation Program

The Australian Government committed $100 million for crisis and transitional housing options for:

  • women and children experiencing family and domestic violence
  • older women at risk of homelessness.

This is part of the Housing Australia Future Fund.

The Crisis and Transitional Accommodation Program is a 5-year capital works program. Grants will fund building, remodelling, expanding or purchasing new accommodation.

This commitment aligns with the agenda for housing and women’s safety. This includes the National Plan to End Violence against Women and Children 2022 2032(Opens external website). The program will complement the Safe Places Emergency Accommodation Program(Opens external website). Safe Places provides crisis accommodation for women and children experiencing family and domestic violence.

Grant outcome

The Australian Government announced funding on 2 February 2025 for 42 projects. 41 organisations will deliver the projects around the country. They will provide safe and secure accommodation for hundreds of women and their children each year.

This will decrease the strain on the crisis accommodation system. It will help to meet the need for transitional housing. It will also strengthen pathways into longer-term housing options for women and children and older women at risk of homelessness.
