Yes. We will support and accommodate suitable reasonable adjustments to enable candidates to participate in the interview and selection process. Please indicate your specific adjustment needs in your application. If you are selected for an interview, we will contact you to discuss your adjustment requirements. 

For those who are offered positions, individual reasonable workplace adjustments are provided to enable participants to undertake their duties effectively and to perform at their full capability in the workplace.

The program offers many opportunities for graduates, which may include but is not limited to:

• participation in the Australian Public Service Graduate Development Program (APS GDP), providing a range of courses to build APS Craft
• a number of face-to-face and virtual events, including the 'Graduate Hack-a-thon' 
• access to 3 coaching sessions 
• courses delivered via an interactive and virtual social learning platform
• networking with graduates and Senior Executive Staff across the APS
• a guided tour of Australian Parliament House in Canberra
• a short-term placement in Services Australia service centres to observe the work that directly benefits Australians, including APS Surge Reserve work. 

To successfully complete the program you must:

• participate in the department’s orientation program
• complete 2 work placements (rotations)
• receive a rating of 'performs well' in your formal performance discussion
• successfully complete all probation requirements
• complete the requirements of the Graduate Development Program Handbook
• complete all core components of the APS GDP, including courses, events and coaching.

Yes. Dedicated Entry Level Program Coordinators are the central point of contact for the duration of the program.

You will be allocated a Senior Executive Service mentor who can advise you on your career options. You will also have a 'buddy' who was a former graduate program participant. We provide opportunities, to all employees, to help with personal and professional development.

Yes. We are a COVID-safe working environment. As part of your employment conditions, you will have access to a range of leave options including flex time, annual and personal leave.

We provide workplace structures, systems and procedures to help staff balance their work, family and other caring responsibilities effectively.

Graduates are encouraged to focus on the core training available throughout the program. We may support graduates to undertake further study once they have successfully completed all elements of the program. 

We strongly suggest waiting until you have passed all the pre-employment checks and receive a formal offer of engagement.
