Auslan interpreter support
About the National Sign Language Program
The National Sign Language Program (NSLP) This program is administered by the Department of Health and Aged Care and delivered by Deaf Connect(Opens in a new tab/window).
The NSLP supports older Deaf, deafblind and hard of hearing people who are not eligible for the NDIS.
For people aged 65 years and over
National Auslan Interpreter Booking and Payment Service (NABS) clients aged 65 years and over will be eligible for the NSLP. The NSLP will support all Auslan users (including new clients) aged 65 years and over and who are ineligible for the NDIS to access Auslan interpreting support for private medical appointments.
The NSLP provides a similar service to NABS – but also includes other services, such as free interpreting in social and professional settings. It will now be expanded to include medical settings.
