Resources are available to help parents and carers during early childhood. 

Supporting childhood development 

The Communities for Children Facilitating Partners (CfC FP) program supports early childhood development and wellbeing in disadvantaged communities.

The National Early Childhood Program for Children with Disability and Developmental Concerns (NECP) supports young children (aged 0-8 years) with disability or developmental concerns, and their parents and carers.

The Early Childhood Outreach initiative (EC Outreach) supports First Nations children with disability or developmental concerns, and their families and communities. This initiative is part of the Information, Linkages and Capacity Building program.

Preparing children for school 

The Home Interaction Program for Parents and Youngsters (HIPPY) program helps parents and carers to be their child’s first teacher.

The Common Approach 

The Common Approach guides conversations with young people about their wellbeing. It focuses on prevention, uses evidence and is flexible.

Early Childhood Targeted Action Plan 

The Early Childhood Targeted Action Plan is a part of Australia’s Disability Strategy(Opens in a new tab/window). We are responsible for these actions, which strengthen early identification, information, supports and pathways. The plan also details collaboration between programs and services.
