About this resource
This paper provides information on changes to improve the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).
This follows up on recommendations of previous reviews and inquiries, particularly the 2019 Independent Review of the National Disability Insurance Scheme Act 2013.
The changes seek to improve the NDIS. They also seek to make the NDIS fairer, with better information for decision making, at less cost for participants and those applying to become participants.
The changes will also make it easier for people to use their NDIS funds to pay for the services and supports they choose, and will make clearer what can be paid for with NDIS funds, what should not be charged to NDIS funds and what should be paid for from a person’s own income (including government income support, for those receiving it).
When implemented, these reforms will make the NDIS work better for participants, their families and carers.
