The Australian Government is seeking your views to replace the Disability Services Act 1986.
The Australian Government is seeking your views to help inform the drafting of new legislation to replace the Disability Services Act 1986.
This law governs how we provide services for people with disability to improve their independence and participate in community and economic life.
The Act has not been significantly updated in over thirty years so this is an important opportunity to have your say about how disability and disability services are defined into the future.
We especially want to hear from people with disability, as well as their families, carers and disability service providers.
Public consultation is open now and closes at 11:59pm AEDT, Sunday 12 February 2023.
Your response can be in any format such as online, in writing, even a video or audio response. Your responses will remain private. You can share your own views or provide feedback on behalf of someone else.
Information about the consultation is also available in Easy Read and Auslan.
