Children’s Week 2024 commenced on Saturday 19 October. Children’s Week is held annually around the fourth Wednesday in October. The week seeks to bring focus to the rights and achievements of children.

Children’s Week recognises that children deserve to enjoy childhood, the week encourages children to show their talents, skills and abilities.

Families and communities across the country participate in events this week through the participation of schools, playgroups, childcare, kindergartens, cultural groups, libraries, departments and community groups. Events for Children’s Week are held nationally as well as at a state and local level. These events seek to bring focus to the rights and achievements of children.

Since 1996 this week has had a permanent theme – “A Caring World Shares”. This theme is a reflection of the week’s goals and a reminder for all of us that interact in a child’s life.
