The Australian Government is seeking views on the way forward for supported employment for people with disability with high support needs.

We want people with disability and the Australian community to share their views on:

  • how to make workplaces more inclusive for those with high support needs
  • the next steps for the supported employment sector
  • priorities for the future.

You can respond to the Next Steps in Supported Employment(Opens external website) discussion paper on DSS Engage until 5pm (AEST) on Sunday 22 June 2025. The paper is also available in Easy Read and Auslan.

The paper asks 7 questions about the future of supported employment. It considers relevant recommendations from the Disability Royal Commission and current reforms.

We will think about the next steps after reviewing the community feedback. A report on the consultation will be available online.
