The report outlining what we heard from the public consultation on draft lists of NDIS supports is now available.

The consultation focused on draft lists to define NDIS supports. This informed a transitional rule related to section 10 of NDIS Amendment (Getting the NDIS Back on Track No. 1) Act 2024. The consultation ran from 4 – 24 August 2024, and received more than 7,000 responses and submissions.

A number of overarching themes were raised in the feedback obtained, including:

  • a preference for a principles-based approach over a list-based approach
  • the need for flexibility
  • the use of ‘carve outs’ creating confusion and a lack of clarity
  • the need for an exception or substitution process to accompany the lists
  • ensuring general and standard products are accessible to participants, alongside specialist disability products
  • the whole of disability supports needs to be considered together.

Accessible versions of the report, including Easy Read and Auslan, will be available soon.
