Connecting people with disability to potential employers
The Minister for Families and Social Services officially launched the RecruitAble pilot at Coles Head Office in Melbourne.
On 21 March 2022, the Minister for Families and Social Services, Senator the Honourable Anne Ruston, officially launched the RecruitAble pilot at Coles Head Office in Melbourne.
The RecruitAble pilot is designed and delivered by people with disability. It is one of the first initiatives under Employ My Ability – the Disability Employment Strategy. It aims to challenge bias and misconceptions around recruitment of people with disability. It also demonstrates how existing mainstream recruitment processes can become more inclusive.
In Australia, the unemployment rate for people with disability is double that of people without disability. The gap in labour force participation is over 30 per cent – RecruitAble aims to change this!
Minister Ruston said, ‘Having a stable job is an absolute game changer in everyone’s life and that shouldn’t be any different for someone who has a disability.’
