The department will explain how disability employment services will change and what will stay the same. This will include details about how the new program will support participants, employers and providers.
You will also learn about the new Disability Employment Centre of Excellence and how it will develop best practice information and training to support the sector.
The new program is not starting just yet – the changes won’t happen until July next year.
From 1 July 2025, a new specialist disability employment program will help more people with disability, injury or a health condition to prepare for, find and maintain sustainable employment.
Participants will receive customised and tailored support that reflects the range of ways people find and keep a job. This will include a range of pre-employment, job search and in-employment supports.
It will also improve how providers can work with people to prepare for, find and keep a job.
The new program will better support employers to realise the benefits of employing people with disability. As part of this, employers may be eligible for the new wage subsidy program.
Importantly, it will allow providers to focus on delivering quality services to participants and employers, drive continuous improvement of services and deliver a modern ICT system.
