NDIS Reform Advisory Committee

The National Disability Insurance Scheme Reform Advisory Committee will give independent advice from people with disability on implementing reforms to the NDIS.

Purpose and role

The NDIS Reform Advisory Committee  will bring together the different and diverse voices of people with disability. It will advise the Disability Reform Ministerial Council (DRMC) and the Minister for the NDIS.

The Committee will:

  • monitor and advise on implementing the reforms to the NDIS, including in response to the:
    • Independent Review into the NDIS (NDIS Review)
    • NDIS-related reforms from the Royal Commission into Violence, Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation of People with Disability (DRC)
  • advise DRMC on effective ways to engage with people with lived experience
  • ensure the DRMC hears the diverse voices, views and lived experience of people with disability.

The Terms of Reference were endorsed by the Disability Reform Ministerial Council on 21 February 2025. These set out the roles and responsibilities of the Committee.

Membership

The Committee will have:

  • 2 Co-Chairs
  • 8 state and territory representatives
  • 3 community representatives.

El Gibbs and Dougie Herd were announced as the inaugural Co-Chairs of the Committee on 15 January 2025.

An EOI for all other members was open from 24 February 2025 to 24 March 2025. Applications are currently being assessed. We will share information on the appointment of further members after the formation of the next Australian Government.
