Credit cards banned for online gambling

Per the Interactive Gambling Act 2001, credit cards are not able to be used to gamble online. The ban includes credit cards and credit payments made via digital wallets. Lottery services (profit and not-for-profit) are excluded from the ban due to a low risk of gambling harm.

The Parliamentary Joint Committee on Corporations and Financial Services recommended the ban.

The ban is regulated by the Australian Communications and Media Authority.
