About the Disability Royal Commission

The Disability Royal Commission looked at what needs to change to:

  • prevent violence, abuse, neglect, and exploitation of people with disability
  • achieve a safe, inclusive and accessible society.

The final report was released on 29 September 2023. It contains 12 volumes and 222 recommendations aimed at all levels of government.

The Australian Government thanks the Disability Royal Commission for its comprehensive inquiry. It also commends the Commissioners for their extensive work.

We also thank the almost 10,000 people who shared their experiences with the Disability Royal Commission and acknowledge the hurt and trauma this may have caused. These contributions will continue to drive change towards an inclusive Australia.
