Disability Reform Ministerial Council Meeting on 23 June 2023

Commonwealth, State and Territory Disability Ministers met on 23 June 2023 in Canberra.

Guests included Co-Chairs of the NDIS Review Panel, Ms Lisa Paul AO PSM and Professor Bruce Bonyhady AM and the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commissioner, Ms Tracy Mackey. 

At the meeting Ministers discussed:

  • the significant investment of the 2023-24 Commonwealth Budget for people with disability
  • the work of the NDIS Review Panel, including a summary of what they have heard from the community so far
  • the National Autism Strategy and the pre-emptive early intervention pilots for infants with early signs of autism
  • the development of the National Disability Research Partnership
  • the experiences of NDIS participants living in supported boarding house settings and the importance of ensuring accommodation settings are appropriate for NDIS participants
  • recent COVID-19 case and vaccination data indicating case numbers have started to trend down in recent week, and
  • developing long-term transport policy for NDIS participants.
